Sanandej Power Plant
The Sanandaj Combined Cycle Power Plant has been constructed on a 72-hectare site, located 7 kilometers from the city of Sanandaj at an elevation of 1,550 meters above sea level. Prior to the upgrade of its gas units, the plant had a nominal capacity of 956 MW, consisting of four 159-MW gas units (Version 3) and two E-type steam units with a capacity of 160 MW each.
The gas unit upgrade project began in 2015 with the conversion of Gas Unit 4 to MAP2+, followed by the upgrade of Gas Units 1, 2, and 3 to MAP2B during 2018, 2019, and 2020. As a result of these power-uprating projects, the plant’s nominal capacity has increased to 1,039 MW. The cooling system of the steam section is a dry cooling tower (Heller type).
The plant’s environmental performance also complies with the latest national environmental standards through the installation of online monitoring systems.
